How is it done? Give them cheaper food and booze and they will give you back the difference in price, it being unlikely that they keep it for any bills needing to be paid back home! Even though the idea of these discounts was more popular several years ago, when the industry hadn’t yet recovered, there are still 100 places where you can eat and drink only the finer things at cheap prices, as long as you gamble. Some people have even imposed themselves a betting limit as to benefit from the bar or restaurant discounts. For example, if you drink a beer for 3 dollars instead of 9 at the Golden Nugget, then you have to put another at least 10 dollars in a machine. In fact, this rule applies to most casino floors, where you cannot consume unless you play, and for the rest, at only a few steps away, in the same resort, you can find the best restaurants or the coolest bars. You’re not missing Romania too much when thinking about this, are you? Well, resemblances stop here!
In order to enjoy these “Happy Hours”, you have to the applied schedules very well, especially considering that they are not the same. The Pub Monte Carlo tries to lure you in with half price for anything at the bar, only from Monday to Friday, between 15:00 and 18:00. At El Segundo Sol Fashion Show Mall you can drink a shot of tequila with 3 dollars, a beer for 4 dollars, a margarita for 5 dollars and eat a Mexican quesadilla for 5 dollars on any day of the week, but only between 16:00 and 19:00. Some casino managers, more cynical and less in love with crowds, offer these discounts during shorter time intervals, only with the purpose of selling in tourist packs and not seem anything less than the competition. Milos Cosmopolitan is one of these places, offering only an hour and a half of actual discounts, and then, the beer costs less than six dollars and the hors d’oeuvres plate is more than 10 dollars. Nevada este capitala americană a jocurilor de noroc şi unul dintre cele doar patru state, alături de Delaware, New Jersey şi Pennsylvania, care permit orice fel de pariu. Miezul este “Las Vegas Strip”, un bulevard de aproape 7 kilometri din centrul oraşului în care sunt concentrate majoritatea restorturilor de lux şi a cazinourilor. Iar bătaia pe clienţi e mare şi de multe ori în favoarea acestora.

Ideea că n-ai ce să cauţi în Las Vegas decât dacă eşti plin de bani a intrat în folclorul general şi mulţi nici nu se mai obosesc să verifice informaţiile. Cum se face? Dă-le mâncare şi băutură mai ieftină şi ei îţi vor da diferenţa înapoi, fiind puţin probabil s-o păstreze pentru vreo factură care trebuie plătită la întoarcerea acasă! Deşi ideea acestor reduceri era mai populară cu ceva ani în urmă, când industria nu-și revenise încă pe Strip-ul din Las Vegas există încă peste 100 de locuri în care poţi mânca şi bea numai lucruri fine la preţuri derizorii, cu condiţia să joci. Unii au pus şi o limită minimă de pariere pentru a beneficia de reducerile de la bar sau restaurant. Spre exemplu, dacă vrei să bei o bere cu 3 dolari în loc de 9 la Golden Nugget atunci trebuie să bagi într-un aparat măcar 10 dolari. De fapt, această regulă se aplică la majoritatea sălilor de joc, unde nu poţi să consumi decât dacă joci, pentru restul existând la doi paşi, în acelaşi resort, cele mai tari restaurante şi cele mai cool baruri. La acest capitol parcă vă trece dorul de România, nu? Ei bine, asemănările se opresc aici!
Pentru a beneficia de aceste “Happy Hours” trebuie să ţineţi minte bine intervalul orar în care se aplică, mai ales că nu e la toate la fel. Unii şefi de cazinouri, mai cinici şi mai puţin ahtiaţi după aglomeraţie, oferă aceste discounturi în intervale orare mult mai scurte, doar pentru a le putea vinde şi ei în pachete turistice care nu trebuie să pară cu ceva mai prejos decât ale concurenţei. Milos Cosmopolitan este unul dintre aceste locuri, care oferă doar o oră şi jumătate de reduceri efective, şi atunci berea necostând mai puţin de şase dolari, iar platoul cu gustări sărind de 10 dolari. Totuşi, cele mai frumoase poveşti în stil Las Vegas se scriu cu cei care au băgat în aparate 5 sau 10 dolari şi au avut apoi nevoie de un sac. Pentru restul, ce s-a întâmplat acolo rămâne, conform proverbului, acolo!

Ideea de “Happy Hours” nu e însă singura prin care se încearcă atragerea jucătorilor în cazinouri sau menţinerea acolo a celor care au intrat deja. Resorturile din Las Vegas sunt adevărate parcuri de distracţii şi între două mâini proaste clienţii îşi pot reface pofta de joc prin momente de relaxare la SPA, piscină, masaje, curse pe ski jet în nişte adevărate lacuri amenajate în faţa hotelurilor sau concerte în care prestează cei mai tari artişti ai lumii. Rege este la acest capitol datorită complexităţii lui colosul MGM Grand care deţine cel mai mare hotel din SUA cu 5.124 de camere. Mare cu adevărat nu-l fac însă cele 30 de etaje, cei 35.000 de metri pătraţi pe care este construit sau cele 139 de mese de poker care se desfăşoară lângă cele 2.500 de aparate de joc. MGM Grand Garden Arena este cireaşa de pe tort şi ingredientul pe care nu prea îl are nimeni în Las Vegas. În această sală s-au disputat cele mai tari meciuri de box din istorie, dintre care amintim doar Holyfield vs. Tyson, De La Hoya vs. Mayweather sau Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, dar şi Premiile Grammy din 2014, 2015 şi 2017. Acolo puteţi să-i vedeţi lunar concertând pe Cher, Bruno Mars sau performând în incredibilul lor show pe cei de la Cirque du Soleil. Şi dacă nici asta nu te face să rămâi cuminte în interior sau să calci pragul cazinoului, atunci eşti imun la emoţie!
Pare greu de crezut, dar în Las Vegas se poate învăţa istorie. Şi nu oricare, ci una sângeroasă. Asta pentru că iubitorii filmelor cu mafioţi care calcă pe Strip nu au voie să rateze celebrul Flamingo, cazinoul înfiinţat în 1946 de Bugsy Siegel, unul dintre cei mai mari mafioţi ai anilor 1920, 1930 şi 1940, când în Las Vegas nu erau decât câteva aparate şi nisipul, bun doar pentru a ascunde cadavrele victimelor războaielor dintre bande. Flamingo a rămas o atracţie şi peste vremuri, iar în stabilimentul de patru stele se poate sta acum şi cu 60 de dolari pe noapte. Las Vegas reprezintă o atracţie pentru jucători şi datorită faptului că este singurul stat din vestul SUA care permite pariurile online, o “Cutie a Pandorei” nedeschisă încă în restul teritoriilor din stânga Râului Mississippi.
Concluzie: Vrei Las Vegas fără credit la bancă? Informează-te despre “Happy Hours”, trece pragul celor mai atractive localuri şi încearcă-ţi norocul! În caz de ghinion, măcar nu vei pleca pe burta goală!
