Bogdan Dinu originates in Constanta; he is 24 years old and a great poker ionate. In the end this ion of his has become a full time job. Having results in both live and online tournaments, Bogdan declares himself a tight aggressive poker player, but one who adapts to the situations encountered at the table. 565539

How did you start to play poker? Why did you choose this sport?  

I started playing Poker somewhere in the seventh grade with my colleagues back then. It’s a very attractive game that requires spirit of observation, intuition, intelligence and patience.

You were close to achieving a great result at PokerStars Estrellas Madrid, what was missing from your game in order for you to succeed in getting that result awaited by all Romanians?

A bit of good luck, but I can also one or two decisions I made when I was in the last 30 players of the tournament, decisions I am not very proud of. So, a little lack of concentration from my part plus a little bad luck and that was that.

What other important live or online events have you won?

There are many such events but I would rather not make a list of them now.

What type of poker games do you prefer, Texas Hold’em, Omaha or other? Why?

I prefer Texas Hold’em because I make my living out of it, but in of relaxing and having fun I enjoy playing all kinds of poker. I particularly like the H.O.R.S.E., the 8-game, the 10-game tournaments where several types of poker are played in the same tournament and the game is changing in the same time the blind changes.

What do enjoy playing more, online or live poker?

Again, when it comes to work I prefer playing online. If it is for pleasure, I prefer the live game.

What type of games do you prefer, cash games or tournaments?

Except for some home-games with my friends, I almost never play cash games. So, I play just in tournaments.

How would you describe your game? Are you a calculated player, do you adapt to the situation or do you rely more on your instincts?

TAG(Tight Aggressive). The most important thing in poker is one’s power to adjust to each situation individually, so yes, I like to believe that I’m a player flexible player.

What are your future plans for poker?  

I plan to evolve as much as possible and to learn the game as well as I can. The ultimate goal would be to play at live tournaments with great buy-ins, but I still have a lot to learn in of the live game.

Lately the idea that poker is a „sport of the mind” became very popular and there is a lot of lobbying attached to this idea. What is your opinion on this matter is Poker a sport of the mind or is it gambling?

Mental strength and ability to judge situations with objectivity are some virtues that characterize any good poker player. So yes, I believe that poker is a damn complicated sport of the mind if one desires to make a living out of it.

Considering the many changes occurring now in both legislative and in of the fields of players, who become more and more experienced every day, how do you see the future of Poker?

I’m convinced that everything is going to be fine. Some changes were necessary in of legislation and it seems that things are heading in a good direction. As for the fields of players, I believe that games will never become impossible; due to the complexity of the game there are always going to be weaker players too. It’s hard to excel at this game; one needs many accessories to his bag of knowledge.

Considering the fact that lately poker is being promoted more and more in our country, both by media and by organizing live events like PokerFest, what is your opinion on the Romanian poker?

Romanian poker is heading in a very good direction. The way that Pokerfest tournaments are organized should be envied by many foreign poker festivals and if they keep it up, international success will soon follow.

Who is your favorite poker player and why? If there is one, of course.

I don’t have a favorite poker player in of the game itself. There are many tournament players I respect, but I really like Daniel Negreanu for the way he behaves, for his character, playfulness and for the common sense he displays.

What hobbies do you have? How do you spend you leisure time?

I like to travel, to swim and watch TV series, I also enjoy puzzle games.Bogdan Dinu este din Constanţa, are 24 de ani şi o mare pasiune – pokerul, pasiune care s-a transformat în final într-un job full time. Cum te-ai apucat să joci poker? De ce ai ales acest sport?

De poker m-am apucat să joc de prin clasa a 7-a, cu colegii de atunci. E un joc foarte atractiv care-ţi foloseşte la maximum spiritul de observaţie, intuiţia, inteligenţa şi răbdarea.

Ai fost aproape de un rezultat mare la PokerStars Estrellas Madrid, ce a lipsit ca să obţii acel rezultat aşteptat de toţi românii?

A lipsit puţin norocul, dar îmi pot aminti una sau două decizii când eram în ultimii 30 de jucători din turneu de care nu sunt foarte mândru. Deci puţină lipsă de concentrare, puţin ghinion şi aia a fost.

Ce alte evenimente importante mai ai în palmares, live sau online?

Sunt mai multe dar n-aş vrea să fac o listă acum.

Ce tipuri de poker preferi să joci, Texas hold’em, Omaha sau alte tipuri de poker? De ce?

Prefer Texas Hold’em pentru că de aici îmi câştig pâinea, dar ca relaxare şi distracţie joc toate tipurile de poker. Îmi plac în mod deosebit turneele H.O.R.S.E., 8-game, 10-game unde se joacă mai multe tipuri de poker în acelaşi turneu, jocul schimbându-se odată cu blindul.

Îţi place mai mult pokerul live sau online?

Din nou, prefer online-ul când vine vorba de muncă. Dacă e vorba de plăcere, prefer live-ul.

Preferi turneele sau jocurile cash?

Nu joc cash aproape deloc. Excepţie mai fac home-game-urile cu prietenii. Deci doar turnee.

Cum îţi descrii stilul de joc? Esti un jucător calculat, adaptabil situaţiei sau te bazezi mai mult pe instinct?

TAG (Tight Aggressive). Cel mai important lucru în poker e să te poţi adapta fiecărei situaţii în parte, deci da, îmi place să cred că sunt un jucător adaptabil.

Care sunt planurile tale de viitor în ceea ce priveşte pokerul?

Să evoluez cât mai mult şi să învăţ jocul cât mai bine. Scopul final ar fi turneele live cu buyin-uri mari, dar încă mai am multe de învăţat în ceea ce priveşte jocul live.

În ultima vreme se merge foarte mult pe ideea că pokerul este “sport al minţii” şi se face foarte mult lobby acestei idei. Care este părerea ta, este pokerul sport al minţii sau joc de noroc?

Tăria psihică şi abilitatea de a judeca obiectiv situaţiile, sunt nişte virtuţi care caracterizează orice jucător bun de poker. Deci da, consider că este un sport al minţii al dracului de complicat dacă îţi doreşti să trăieşti din asta.

Cum vezi viitorul pokerului având în vedere faptul că în această perioadă au loc multe schimbări atât din punct de vedere legislativ cât şi din punctul de vedere al field-urilor de jucători care devin tot mai experimentaţi?

Sunt convins că o să fie bine. Este nevoie de nişte schimbări în ceea ce priveşte legislaţia şi se pare că lucrurile se îndreaptă spre un făgaş bun. Cât despre field-uri, niciodată nu cred că vor deveni atât de imposibile jocurile, mereu o să fie jucători mai slabi din cauza complexităţii jocului. E greu să excelezi în acest joc, ai nevoie de multe rii la cureaua de cunoştinţe.

Ce părere ai despre pokerul din ţara noastră, luând în calcul faptul că în ultima vreme se face o promovare din ce în ce mai mare atât în media cât şi prin organizarea de turnee live gen PokerFest?

Pokerul din România se îndreaptă spre o direcţie foarte bună. Turneele Pokerfest au o organizare de care ar trebui să fie invidioase multe festivaluri de poker din afară şi dacă o ţin în ritmul ăsta succesul pe plan internaţional nu e foarte departe.

Care este jucătorul tău de poker preferat şi de ce? Desigur, dacă există aşa ceva.

Nu am un jucător preferat în ceea ce priveşte jocul propriu-zis. Sunt mai mulţi jucători de turnee pe care-i stimez, dar îmi place foarte mult Daniel Negreanu pentru felul cum se comportă, pentru caracterul său, jovialitatea şi desigur bunul simţ de care dă dovadă.

Care sunt hobby-urile tale? Cum îţi petreci timpul liber?

Îmi place să călătoresc, să fac puzzleuri, să înot şi să mă uit la seriale.
