It is not the first success for Deeb at WSOP, he is already having another 2 bracelets won in 2016 at #49 event: 1,500$ Seven-Card Stud ant in 2015 at #15 event: 10,000$ Pot-Limit Hold’em Championship.

For us it was very pleasant to see that in the final act of the event (last 8 players), we check the presence of the Romanian player Bogdan Căpitan, from Cluj. For him the entire tournament was a success and for the future we have from his part the promise of a bracelet. Bogdan won $123.004.

In this day we had 192 entries and after 10 levels of 1 hour each, only 101 remain in the game. Konstantin Beylin it was the chip leader of the day with a stack of 617,500 chips. Negreanu had the third stack of the day, Robert Mizrachi and Scotty Nguyen were among the leaders of the day. Bogdan finished with the 7’th stack.

It is curios that in this day beside the elimination of some famous players, also Shaun Deeb was “cleaned” by Frank Parisi in a three-handed play (Deeb, Parisi and Josh Arieh). At the first break, Deeb re-entered in the game at the right time, the re-entry period was closed. The game show us 230 buy-in’s in the first two initial contest days with a total of 181 unique players, we had 49 re-entry’s. The biggest event of the day was the elimination of Negreanu by Craig Varnell at the last hand before break. The pot was the biggest of the day: 900k. Negreanu’s hand was AK44 and his opponent AQ94. On the table came a flop formed by 9-4-3, turn 10 and river 9. Varnell had better cards, two pairs and the Canadian was eliminated.

That was the moment when the organizers announced the tournament payout:

Among others, players like Scott Seiver, Chris Ferguson and Brian Rast were eliminated. Scotty Nguyen, who I’ve didn’t see in the last time playing tournaments (probably playing more cash) plays very well until this moment.

At the break we had 3 chip-leaders: Jason Koon (1.650.000 chips), Dominykas Karmazinas (1.242.00 chips) and Ryan Tosoc (1.1650.000 chips). Another important event was the elimination of Galfond by Căpitan. Check the hand:

On the table came K-6-4 (flop), J (turn) and J (river). Kings were better and Galfond (3 WSOP bracelets winner) leave the tournament. Until the end of this day JC Tran leave also the tournament. Day 2 ends with Ben Yu leader and 35 players in the game. It has been 14 hours very tiring for the players, and the top 5 stacks are: Ben Yu (3.695.000 chips),  Jason Koon (2.540.000 chips), Ryan Tosoc (2.220.000 chips), Shaun Deeb (2.120.000 chips) and Scotty Nguyen (2.010.000).

At the end of day 3, Deeb start to play more consistent and gather more chips. First victim: Ryan Tosoc. Deeb’s stack 3.600.000 chips. Velador is the next victim and lose 200.000 chips.

Bogdan take from Deeb 920.000 chips with a very interesting hand, almost immediate the Romanian it is eliminated by Ben Yu, on 8’th place. After a clash with Nguyen, David Benyamine leaves the tournament on 7’th. At the middle of the night only seven are standing.

Scotty Nguyen leads with a little over 7.000.000 chips, James Calderaro (last year winner) it’s on second with 6.445.000 chips, and Shaun Deeb it’s on third with 6.305.000 chips.

At the final table Nguyen and Jason Koon, probably the most known players, wasn’t in the spotlight. Our old friends Shaun Deeb and Ben Yu had the main role they reissued the last year heads-up from WSOP Event # 34: 10,000$ Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw Championship 2017 when Yu won.

Final table, on short. Ryan Tosoc enter in the game short stack with only 11BB, the lack of chips was decisive being eliminated by Yu. It was Koon’s turn to be eliminated by Deeb, the chip leader of the moment. Deeb it’s in the game and target’s Calderaro, ho finish on 4’th. Nguyen a good period but it was necessary to play only two hands with Yu to leave. At heads-up Ben Yu have 18.000.000 chips and Shaun 10.650.000. Deeb take the lead almost immediate and in a few hands increase the chip advance to 3:1. The last hand it is a formality, with A-A-9-8 and Yu J-6-6-5, the table show 5-4-2, 2 and 8. The two Deeb’s pairs are enough for the title, bracelet and $1.402.683.Evenimentul #42 de la a 49-a ediție a lui WSOP a adunat la start un field de 230 de jucători ce au fost dispuși să riște 25.000$ pentru a câștiga marele pot de 1.402.683$, atât cât a câștigat învingătorul Shaun Deeb.

Deeb nu este la prima reușită la WSOP, el având deja în palmares alte 2 brățări obținute în 2016 la Evenimentul #49: 1,500$ Seven-Card Stud și respectiv, în 2015 la Event #15: 10,000$ Pot-Limit Hold’em Championship.

Unul din lucrurile plăcute la acest turneu a fost participarea în ultimul act al turneului (ultimii 8) a jucătorului clujean Bogdan Căpitan, dar întreg turneul a fost o reușită foarte frumoasă și o promisiune pentru o brățară în viitor. Bogdan a câștigat 123.004$ pentru locul 8.

Această zi de concurs a beneficiat de 192 de jucători înscriși, din care 101 au rămas încă în joc la finele a 10 nivele a câte o oră de joc fiecare. Konstantin Beylin a terminat în forță această primă zi, organizatorii numărându-i nu mai puțin de 617,500 de fise la finele zilei. Negreanu a terminat al treilea în stack, iar Robert Mizrachi și Scotty Nguyen au fost și ei printre fruntașii zilei. Bogdan al nostru a terminat al șaptelea.

Curios este că în această zi de concurs pe lângă eliminările unor jucători celebri, Shaun Deeb a fost și el “curățat” de Frank Parisi la o mână în 3 (Deeb, Parisi și Josh Arieh). La prima pauză a zilei, Deeb a făcut re-entry și a fost ultima ocazie ca el să facă asta pentru că organizatorii au încheiat perioada înscrierilor chiar atunci. Panoul de joc al turneului arăta 230 de jucători intrați până în acel moment în cele 2 zile inițiale de concurs din 181 jucători unici, iar restul de 49 au făcut re-entry. Ca și eveniment al zilei, Daniel Negreanu a fost eliminat de Craig Varnell fix la ultima mână înainte de pauză. Potul a fost cel mai mare al zilei de până atunci: 900k. Negreanu a avut AK44, iar oponentul său AQ94. Pe masa de joc a venit un flop format din 9-4-3, turnul a fost 10, iar pe river a venit un 9, Varnell a prins 2 perechi iar canadianul de origine română a fost eliminat din turneu.

Acum s-a anunțat de către organizatori și Payoutul turneului:

Printre alții au mai fost eliminați următorii: Scott Seiver, Chris Ferguson sau Brian Rast. Scotty Nguyen, pe care nu l-am mai văzut de mult prin turnee (probabil joacă mai mult cash) joacă destul de bine până acum.

La pauză de masă cei 3 chip-leaderi erau: Jason Koon (1.650.000 fise), Dominykas Karmazinas (1.242.00 fise) și Ryan Tosoc (1.1650.000 fise). Un eveniment important al zilei este eliminarea lui Galfond de către Căpitan. Iată mâna:

Pe masă au venit K-6-4 (flop), J (turn) și J (river).  Popii au fost mai tari și Galfond (câștigător a 3 brățări WSOP) părăsește turneul. Până la finele acestei zile JC Tran părăsește și el turneul. Ziua a doua se încheie cu Ben Yu la conducere și 35 de jucători rămași. Au fost 14 ore foarte obositoare pentru playeri, iar cele mai importante 5 stack-uri sunt: Ben Yu (3.695.000 fise),  Jason Koon (2.540.000 fise), Ryan Tosoc (2.220.000 fise), Shaun Deeb (2.120.000 fise) și Scotty Nguyen (2.010.000).

Răzbunarea lui Deeb 2s61

Către finalul zilei 3, Deeb începe să joace din ce în ce mai consistent și să acumuleze chips-uri. Prima victimă: Ryan Tosoc. Deeb ajunge la 3.600.000 de fise. Apoi urmează Velador căruia îi smulge 200.000 de fise cu o culoare.

Bogdan câștigă de la Deeb 920.000 de fise la o mână foarte interesantă, dar aproape imediat este eliminat pe locul 8 de către Ben Yu. De pe 7 pleacă acasă David Benyamine după o încleștare cu Nguyen. Către miezul nopții rămân 6 “în picioare”.

Scotty Nguyen conduce cu puțin peste 7.000.000 de fise, James Calderaro (câștigătorul de anul trecut) se situează pe locul 2 cu 6.445.000 fise, iar pe 3 este Shaun Deeb cu 6.305.000.

Masa finală de 6 nu a avut în prim plan nici pe Nguyen și nici pe Jason Koon, poate cei mai titrați jucători din finala turneului, ci pe vechile cunoștințe Shaun Deeb și Ben Yu, jucători care vor reedita cu această ocazie heads-up-ul de anul trecut de la WSOP Event # 34: 10,000$ Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw Championship 2017 când Yu a avut câștig de cauză.

Pe scurt, iată ce s-a întâmplat la masa finală. Ryan Tosoc, a intrat short stack în joc, cu doar 11BB, iar asta i-a fost fatal rapid fiind eliminat de Yu. Apoi a venit rândul lui Koon să fie eliminat de Deeb, care între timp devenise liderul la chip-uri. Dee este irezistibil și îl ia țintă apoi pe Calderaro, care termină pe locul 4. Pentru o perioadă Nguyen acumulează chip-uri dar au fost suficiente 2 mâini cu Yu pentru ca totul să se năruie. Jucătorul de origine vietnameză și inclus în Poker Hall of Fame termină pe 3. Așadar, ultimii doi aflați în joc, Yu și Deeb, reeditează partida de anul trecut. Ben Yu avea 18.100.000 de fise, iar Shaun Deeb avea 10.650.000. Deeb preia conducerea aproape imediat și în câteva mâini duce avansul său la o paritate de aproape 3:1 a numărului de fise. La ultima mână îndeplinește doar o formalitate atunci când are A-A-9-8, iar Yu îi opune J-6-6-5, pe masa vin cărțile 5-4-2, 2 și 8, și cele două perechi, așii și optarii, sunt suficiente pentru a câștiga titlul, brățara și suma de 1.402.683$.
