Wilmark Rizzo Hernandez can be considered a classical example of love ”at first site” regarding Romania, his second home. He came to become a petroleum engineer (graduating from the Petroleum-Gas University of Ploiești), but he stayed to live his dream. He has a beautiful family, two children, and he does exactly what he wanted from the beginning – shows, dance, music, as he is a promoter of the Latin-American culture in our country. As the former member of the jury of the famous television show broadcasting on PRO TV – Dansez Pentru Tine (Dancing with the stars), Wilmark represents the example of a star who is not abusive of his image and who does what he loves without compromise; he breaths music and dance through all his pores. What has been the life of artist Wilmark Rizzo lately? What projects have you developed lately?

There are four aspects that are important to me: the family, the dance school, the MC/ entertainer career and the artistic director career. Here is a great part of my life, the projects appear approximately from 6 to 6 months, we make theme shows for private and public companies, the portfolio is great – from classical to modern – we work for them to each detail. I consider that the final product, the one delivered to the spectator, represents the law, everything starts from the first discussion with the client until meetings with artists, rehearsals on stage, we create unique moments for the client to transmit his message by the means of the show.

How would you describe the artist life in Romania? Can you portray it as being paved with success or not?

Yes, but success comes as a result of experience, and the latter as a result of work, and you can draw a conclusion only if you are coherent. To me success is represented by each rehearsal, each show performed with mastery, everything materializes once with the public’s applauses, it is the field that I go in for. I have dealt with radio since I was in high school in Santafe de Bogota, dance since common school, music since childhood, and in Romania I switched over to television. It is obvious that there is no developed showbiz industry. As in the case of many other jobs, there are lacunae in my career as an artist; however, I have learned to make use of anything, but beyond opportunity there is the desire of doing something because sooner or later the harvest period will come. It is then when one can say he is successful.

When did you come to Romania, and how was our country back then? How do you find Romania now?

A major change! As a matter of fact, I that in 1994 one did not see cars on the street that much, and now one cannot even walk as a pedestrian, it was the beginning of the transition period. What I see now? Many entrepreneurs, young people wishing to conquer the world, I see a Romania that is constantly changing, not the one that wants to show, but the one that wants to prove, and this is what thrills me.

You are the president of the Romanian Dance Association. What are the object and the objectives of the association?

Our objectives are to create the conditions necessary for our dancers to be entirely dedicated to their artistic, sporting and personal development. To sustain national events and competitions in order to maintain the dance at the highest level; to avoid talented dancers leaving the activity due to the lack of skill of promoting themselves, or due to a precarious marketing, despite their competences.

Romania has world-class dancers, but we also need people who love arts in order to sustain these projects.

Your team of artists delights people with a lot of wonderful shows all over Romania and I believe on an international scale as well. I kindly ask you to give us more details about the things that you do now.

Our entertainment agency deals with the study, development and creation of shows for companies; these are done according to the evolution of the Romanian market, and not only. We only work with performers/ dancers/ singers/ presenters/ illusionists/ technicians/ engineers renown for their qualities, be it artistic or professional and for being involved in our projects, resulting in a tied and homogenous project.

What do you do when you miss Columbia, your home country?

I cry, I laugh, I fondly the pleasance and relaxation that represent the life there, people enjoying the simple things that people and life in general gives us. Spending a vacation in the Caribbean is relaxing.

What are the things that are common to the two countries: Romania and Columbia? What are the things that separate them?

There are many, quite interesting, similarities. Of all East European countries, it is obvious that the Latino spirit prevails in Romania, and probably the most important characteristic is the ion. As Latinos, we get involved, we go over for something entirely, that is where pleasance and suffering come from. However, I also had to learn here other things that are not a part of the Latin American practices, such as: “neighbor’s goat should die” or “become the devil’s brother until you cross the bridge”, “don’t take a sack to the praised tree”, “the thin cheek is kept on expense”, or “The old chicken makes good soup” (literal translation) – here I it, I have eaten lots of soups, yet I cannot tell the difference! 🙂

To you, the Latino dance and music definitely represent a way of life. Please tell us if the European or Romanian culture have somehow influenced your artistic career.

It is true. It truly is my life. My world spins around shows, I normally should have been a petroleum-gas specialized engineer, but the school and high school preparation together with the homesickness have represented the perfect recipe for becoming a promoter of the Latin American culture; the calling came from childhood.

Your company, Wilmark Entertainment, is a rich offer of artistic representations, being able to offer a wide range of show services. Please tell us the way you see the gambling industry in Romania and how your show company could contribute to its life full of fun and amusement.

Indeed our company offers tailor made services for some companies in the field, the offer has to be various, dynamic, and it has to be fit to the area of interest of the contractor; our services include concept, organization, implementation, artistic performance at the highest standard. The theme events with lots of entertainment are a high point of attraction.

From my point of view it is an industry that is developing regardless of circumstances, there are big players in this field, the big companies have managers with high professional level who understand the importance of a quality service, and who are aware of the fact that selling cheap comes with being perceived as such; thus they prefer to offer quality and spectacular artistic acts. I do not believe that things end here, we have started to develop more and more complex shows, which brings me huge satisfaction, even though I it that I hate the part when I have to sit down, write and conceive the budget; it seems to me that this takes from my creative time.

What are the things that you do besides music and dance? What are your hobbies?

To me, what many people call work, I consider my lifestyle, I love what I do and this is my ion.Wilmark Rizzo Hernandez poate fi considerat exemplul clasic de dragoste “at first site” cu România, cea de-a doua lui casă. A venit să devină inginer petrolist (absolvind Universitatea de Petrol și Gaze din Ploiești), dar a rămas să-și trăiască visul. Are o familie frumoasă, doi copii, și face exact ce și-a dorit de la bun început – spectacole, dans, muzică, fiind un promotor al culturii latino-americane la noi în țară. Fost membru al juriului celebrului spectacol de televizune de la PRO TV – Dansez Pentru Tine, Wilmark reprezintă exemplul de vedetă care nu abuzează de imaginea sa și care face ceea ce îi place fără compromisuri, respirând prin toți porii muzică și dans. Am realizat acest interviu special cu el și vă invităm să-l savurați și să-l descoperiți pe Wil așa cum este el și cum l-am cunoscut și noi: destins, degajat, sincer.

Care mai este viața artistului Wilmark Rizzo în ultima perioadă? Ce proiecte ai derulat în ultimul timp?

Patru aspecte sunt importante pentru mine: familia, școala de dans, cariera de MC/entertainer și cea de director artistic. Aici se regăsește o mare parte din viața mea, proiectele apar la noi aproximativ din 6 în 6 luni, montăm spectacole tematice pentru companii private și public, portofoliul e mare – de la clasic la modern – lucrăm minuțios la ele. Consider că produsul final, cel care este livrat către spectator este legea, totul pleacă de la prima discuție cu clientul până la întâlniri cu artiști, repetițiile pe scenă, creăm momente unice unde clientul transmite mesajul lui printr-un spectacol.

Cum ai descrie viața de artist din România? O poți zugrăvii ca fiind una încununată de reușite sau nu?

Da, însă reușitele vin în urma experienței, iar aceasta în urma muncii, și poți scoate o concluzie doar dacă esti consecvent. Pentru mine o reușită este fiecare repetiție, fiecare show executat cu virtuozitate, totul se concretizează cu aplauzele publicului, e domeniul care m-a pasionat. Fac radio de când eram la liceu în Santafe de Bogota, dans din școala generală, muzică din copilărie, iar în România am trecut la televiziune. Este clar că nu există o industrie dezvoltată de showbiz. Ca și pentru multe alte meserii există lipsuri în cariera de artist, am învățat însă să facem bici din orice, dar mai presus de oportunități este dorința de a face, pentru că mai devreme sau mai târziu perioada recoltei va veni. Abia atunci poți spune că ești un om de succes.

Când ai venit în România, și cum era țara noastră atunci? Cum găsești România acum?

O schimbare majoră! Ca fapt divers, țin minte că în 1994 nu prea vedeai mașini circulând pe stradă, acum nu ai loc nici măcar să mergi ca pieton, era începutul perioadei de tranziție. Acum ce văd? Mulți oameni întreprinzători, tineri doritori să cucerească lumea, văd o Românie într-o schimbare constantă, nu acea care vrea să arate, ci cea care vrea să dovedească, și asta mă încântă.

Ești președintele Asociației Române de Dans. Care este obiectul și care sunt obiectivele asociației?

Obiectivele noastre sunt crearea condițiilor necesare pentru dansatori astfel încât să se poată dedica întru totul dezvoltării lor artistice, sportive și personale. Să susținem evenimentele și competițiile naționale pentru a menține dansul la cel mai înalt nivel; să evităm ca dansatorii talentați să părăsească activitatea pentru că nu se pricep să se promoveze, sau au un marketing deficitar, în ciuda competențelor lor.

România are dansatori de talie internațională, însă avem nevoie și de oameni care iubesc arta, ca să putem să susținem aceste proiecte.

Echipa ta de artiști încântă oamenii cu o mulțime de spectacole minunate peste tot în România și cred că și la nivel internațional. Te rog să ne dai mai multe detalii despre lucrurile pe care le faceți acum.

Agenția noastră de entertainment se ocupă să studieze, să dezvolte și să creeze spectacole pentru companii, acestea se fac în funcție de evoluția pieței din România, și nu numai. Lucrăm numai cu performeri/dansatori/cântăreți/prezentatori/iluzioniști/tehnicieni/ingineri recunoscuți pentru calitățile lor, fie artistice sau profesionale și pentru implicarea în proiectele noastre, având ca rezultat un produs legat și omogen.

Ce faci când ți-e dor de Columbia, țara ta natală?

Plâng, râd, îmi amintesc cu drag plăcerea și relaxarea cu care oamenii trăiesc acolo, bucurându-se de lucrurile simple pe care oamenii și viața în general ni le oferă. Este relaxant să petreci o vacanță în Caraibe.

Care sunt lucrurile pe care le au în comun cele două țări: România și Columbia? Care sunt lucrurile care le despart?

Asemănări sunt multe și destul de interesante. Dintre țările est-europene e clar că spiritul latin predomină în România, iar probabil caracteristica cea mai importantă este pasiunea. Ca latini ne implicăm, ne dăruim cu totul, de acolo apare și plăcerea și suferința. Însă a trebuit să învăț aici și alte lucruri care nu fac parte din practicile latino-americane, precum: “să moară și capra veciunului” sau “fă-te frate cu dracul până treci puntea”, “la pomul lăudat să nu te duci cu sacul”, “obrazul subțire cu cheltuială se ține”, sau „Găina bătrână face ciorba bună” – la asta  recunosc, am mâncat multe ciorbe,  dar tot nu îmi dau seama de diferență! 🙂

Cu siguranță dansul și muzica latino reprezintă un stil de viață pentru tine. Te rog să ne spui dacă cultura Europeană sau cea din România te-au influențat cu ceva în cariera ta de artist?

Așa este. Chiar este viața mea. Lumea mea se învârte în jurul spectacolelor, în mod normal trebuia să fiu inginer specializat în petrol şi gaze însă pregătirea din școală și din timpul liceului adunate cu dorul de casă, au fost rețeta perfectă pentru a deveni un promotor al culturii latino-americane, chemarea a fost din copilărie.

Te rog să ne spui cum vezi industria de gambling de la noi din România și cum crezi că firma ta de specatacole își poate aduce aportul la viața sa plină de distracție și amuzament?

Într-adevăr compania noastră oferă servicii tailor made pentru câteva companii din acest domeniu, oferta trebuie să fie variată, dinamică și să se potrivească cu interesul contractantului, serviciile noastre sunt de concept, organizare, implementare, de execuție artistică, la cel mai înalt standard. Evenimentele tematice, cu mult entertainment, sunt un punct de atracție mare.

Din punctul meu de vedere este o  industrie care se dezvoltă indiferent de circumstanțe, sunt jucători mari în acest domeniu, companiile mari au manageri cu un nivel profesional ridicat, care înțeleg importanța unui serviciu de calitate, și sunt conștienți că dacă se vând ieftin vor fi primiți ca atare, atunci preferă să ofere momente artistice de calitate și spectaculoase. Nu cred că lucrurile se termină aici, am început să montăm spectacole din ce în ce mai complexe, ceea ce îmi produce o satisfacție enormă, cu toate că recunosc că nu îmi place partea la care trebuie să mă așez să scriu și să gândesc bugetele, mi se pare că îmi fură din timpul de creație.

Care sunt lucrurile pe care le faci în afară de muzică și dans? Care îți sunt hobbyurile?

Ceea ce mulți oameni denumesc muncă, pentru mine este stilul meu de viață, iubesc ce fac și asta este și pasiunea mea.
