The Secret Garden

The precise named of this oasis of silence and relaxation in the middle of Vegas is Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and the Dolphin Habitat of the Mirage Hotel & Casino.

These tigers, leopards and dolphins attract millions of tourists, year after the year, in this green paradise. This place was Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn’s lifetime dream, of bringing joy to the children’s souls, and to all those crossing Vegas year after year, and also comfort to the multitude of animals gathered here by the two magicians. Most lions, tigers and leopards present here are special species, which cannot be seen everywhere. For more than 20 years Siegfried and Roy dedicated their lives to the preservation and protection of these felines unique in the world.

Here we find white tigers with black stripes, pink paws and ice-like blue eyes. All subspecies of tigers can transport recessive code genes for a white tiger; in spite of this, white tigers born in their native habitat only rarely do survive due to their lack of camouflage. It should be noted that white tigers are not a subspecies, but a genetic variation. White tigers are not albinos. The coloration of these animals is due to leucism, which is the lack of black pigment.

In the Secrete Garden of Mirage we also find white lions. In 1975, three white lions were discovered in the African Reserve of Timbavati. The color of these extraordinary animals is determined by a single recessive gene. Both parents must have the gene for producing a white cub and even then the chances of a cub to be white are of only one out of four. It is considered that the white lions have existed for more than a century.

Apart the presence of white tigers and lions, here you have the chance of finding superb individuals of golden tigers, black panthers, leopards and lions. Although there are not so spectacular as the white ones, these incredible felines are very beautiful and can complete what you can experience here.

While you go through the incredible habitat created here, you shall notice luxuriant green zones, combined with a thematic music, reminding of the jungle, and even a glorious lion’s portrait made of plants. Some of the “cats” housed here do enjoy waterfalls erected in their rest areas. You shall also discover funny things about the animals you shall see here, things that are inscribed on plates spread throughout the entire mini-reserve. Among other things, you shall find out from these plates that the lion females hunt while the males fully manifest their pride, and that tigers, unlike most other felines, like water and swimming.
Obviously, Americans shall not let us go without buying a souvenir for the Gift shop from the Secret Garden.
Together with the luxuriant cascades of leaves and flowers, the Secret Garden is the ideal place to visit anytime during the year. With all the trees and the surroundings with tropical influences, you shall literally feel that you are in the jungle.

The Dolphin Habitat

About 9.5 million liters of water means home for the dolphins of the Dolphin Habitat. Moist marine mammals  that live here come from the Atlantic, and in this habitat they enjoy a healthy environment, and are part of a wonderful place that raises public awareness as for the marine mammals and their environment – including their role within the ecosystem of Terra.
Four interconnected pools, a man-made coral reef and sand system reproduces the natural environment of the dolphins. Most of them were born here, and the others were transferred here from other marine entertainment facilities throughout the USA and the world.

A very interesting program is “Trainer for A Day” that is developed here and which allows visitors to touch the dolphins, to connect with them and to try (under the close supervision of the site attenders) to teach dolphins what they already know; only the fact that you are with them in water and that they listen to your commands give you a state of excitement and joy that make your day more beautiful.

The daily visiting program of Siegfried & Roy’s Secrete Garden is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Even the cost of tickets varies between 14.95$ for children aged 4 to 12, and 19.95$ for adults. Children aged less than 3 are allowed free of charge.

The aquarium houses more than 1,000 species of marine creatures within an aquarium of approximately 18 meters.

Grădina Secretă

Denumirea exactă a acestei oaze de liniște și relaxare din mijlocul Vegasului este Grădina Secretă a lui Siegfried & Roy și Habitatul Delfinilor de la The Mirage Hotel & Casino.

Aici tigri, leoparzi și delfini atrag milioane de turiști, an de an, în acest paradis verde. Acest loc a fost visul de-o viață a lui Siegfried Fischbacher și Roy Horn de a aduce veselie în inimile copiilor, a tuturor celor care trec prin Vegas an de an, dar și alinare pentru mulțimea de animale adunate aici de cei doi magicieni. Majoritatea leilor, tigrilor și leoparzilor prezenți aici sunt niște specii deosebite, pe care nu le vezi oriunde. Timp de mai bine de 20 de ani Siegfried și Roy și-au dedicat viața pentru prezervarea și protejarea acestor feline unice în lume.

Aici găsim tigri albi cu dungi negre, labe roz și ochi albaștri de gheață. Toate subspeciile de tigri pot transporta genele recesive de cod pentru un tigru alb; cu toate acestea, tigri albi născuți în habitatul lor nativ rareori supraviețuiesc din cauza lipsei lor de camuflaj. De reținut că tigri albi nu sunt o subspecie, sunt o variație genetică. Tigri albi nu sunt albinoși. Colorația acestor animale se datorează leucismului, care este o lipsă a pigmentului negru.

În Grădina Secretă de la Mirage găsim și lei albi. În 1975 au fost descoperiți 3 lei albi în Rezervația Africană Timbavati. Coloratura acestor animale extraordinare este determinată de o singură genă recesivă. Ambii părinți trebuie să aibă gena pentru a produce un pui alb și chiar și atunci șansele unui pui de a fi alb este doar de una din patru. Se spune că leii albi există de peste un secol.

Pe lângă prezența tigrilor și leilor albi, aici aveți șansa să găsiți exemplare superbe de tigri aurii, pantere negre, leoparzi și lei. Chiar dacă nu sunt așa spectaculoși ca exemplarele albe, aceste feline incredibile sunt deosebit de frumoase și vă pot completa experiența trăită aici.

Pe măsură ce treceti prin incredibilul habitat creat aici, veți observa zone luxuriante de verdeață, combinate cu o muzică tematică care să ne amintească de junglă și chiar un portret al unui leu falnic făcut din plante. Unele dintre „pisicile” găzduite aici au chiar parte de cascade construite în zonele lor de odihnă. Veți descoperi, de asemenea, lucruri amuzante despre animalele de aici, scrise pe plăci răspândite în întreaga mini-rezervație. Printre altele veți afla de pe aceste plăcuțe că femelele leu vânează în timp cei masculii își manifestă din plin mândria, iar tigri sunt printre singurele feline cărora le place apa și înotul.
Evident că americanii nu ne vor lăsa să plecăm de aici fără să nu luăm (plătim) o amintire de la magazinul de cadouri și suveniruri de la Grădina Secretă.
Împreună cu cascadele de frunze și flori luxuriante, Gradina Secretă este locul ideal pentru a o vizita în orice moment al anului. Cu toți copacii și împrejurimile cu influențe tropicale, vei simți literalmente că ești în junglă.

Habitatul Delfinilor

Circa 9,5 milioane litri de apă reprezintă acasă pentru delfinii de la Habitatul Delfinilor. Majoritatea mamiferelor marine de aici provin din Atlantic, iar aici găsesc un mediu sănătos pentru ei, precum și un loc minunat de educare a publicului cu privire la mamifere marine și mediul lor – inclusiv rolul acestora în cadrul ecosistemului Terrei.
Patru piscine conectate, un sistem de corali de recif artificial și nisip reproduce mediul natural al delfinilor. Cei mai mulți dintre delfini s-au născut aici, iar restul de câțiva au fost mutați de la alte facilități de distracție marină din SUA și din lume.

Foarte interesant este programul „Antrenor pentru o zi” care rulează aici și care permite vizitatorilor să atingă delfinii, să se conecteze cu aceștia, și să încerce (sub atenția supraveghetorilor) să îi învețe pe delfini ceea ce ei știu deja; numai faptul că ești alături de ei în apă și îți ascultă comenzile îți dă o stare de exaltare și de bucurie care îți fac ziua mai frumoasă.

Programul zilnic de vizitare a Grădinii Secrete a lui Siegfried & Roy este de la 10 dimineața la 6 seara. Iar costul biletelor variază între 14,95$ pentru copii cu vârste cuprinse între 4 și 12 ani, și până la 19,95$ pentru adulți. Copiii mai mici de 3 ani au accesul gratuit.

Atriumul

Un dom de peste 30 de metri înălțime care adăpostește o mulțime de plante luxuriante, palmieri, lagune și cascade spectaculoase.

Acvariul

Este locul unde 76.000 de litri de apă oferă spectacolul zilnic al sutelor de specii de pești tropicali, unici în lume. O mică părticică din oceane adusă în mijlocul deșertului ca să-ți bucure ochii și mintea. Acavariul adăpostește peste 1.000 de specii de viețuitoare marine în aproximativ 18 metri de acvariu.

Vulcanul
