Sam was born on July 2, 1986 in East Retford in the United Kingdom. He was introduced to poker in a friend’s bar in early 2005, and became hooked on the game when he won every night for 3 weeks straight.

At the 2007 Great British Poker Tour near his home in Nottingham, Sam cashed twice, making his first live-event cash when he won the £100 NLHE for £3,610. He also cashed twice that year at the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, won the £300 NLHE for £5,900 at the Summer Festival Sheffield, and cashed at the Dusk Till Dawn’s Opening Weekend Tournaments Nottingham.

Sam cashed 6 times in 2008 and won 3 events. After cashing at the Norwegian Poker Championships, he took 4th in the $5,000 NLHE at the WSOP for $245,927. His other cashes were all at the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, where he won 3 of the 4 events he cashed in. The events he won were the £1,000 Main Event for £109,050, and won £300 NLHE events twice, earning £12,760 and £7,900.

In 2009, Sam cashed 10 times and won 3 events, starting with cashes at the Deepstack, Nottingham, and the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour. At the Grosvenor Victoria London Poker Championships & Unibet Open, he finished 10th for £10,000 in the £2,500 NLHE Main Event, then cashed twice at the Coral British Masters Poker Tour, winning the £200 NLHE for £4,580. To finish the year, he cashed in 3 Late Night Poker event Cardiff events, and cashed at the PartyPoker.com World Open.

Sam started 2010 with a run at the WSOP, where he cashed 6 times. He cashed in 3 $1,500 NLHE events, with his best finish being 17th to earn $25,838. His biggest WSOP cashes came in the $25,000 NLHE 6-Max, where he earned $141,168 for finishing 7th, and his runner-up finish in the $5,000 NLHE, worth $505,725.  He ended the year by finishing 4th for €139,681 in the EPT Vilamoura €5,000 NLHE Main Event, and winning the $10,000 NLHE at the PartyPoker.com World Open to take home $200,000. By earning over $1 million in 2010, Sam was named “Best Newcomer” by the British Poker Awards.

In 2011, Sam cashed 9 times, won a pair of major events, earned close to $5 million, and jumped for the first time into the on the Global Poker Index (GPI) Top Ten.

Sam started his amazing year at the 2011 Aussie Millions Poker Championship, where he cashed twice. He collected A$1,525,000 when he won the A$100,000 NLHE, then was runner-up to Erik Seidel in the A$250,000 NLHE Super High Roller event to earn A$1,400,000. Before heading to the WSOP, Sam final tabled the €5,000 NLHE at the WPT Diamond Championship at the EFOP in Paris, finishing 6th for €43,545. At the WSOP, he cashed twice in $1,000 NLHE events.

In August, Sam cashed in the inaugural Epic Poker League Main Event, finishing in 11th place for $49,360. The next month, he was in Cannes for the Partouche Poker Tour, where he made the final table of the €8,500 NLHE Main Event as chip leader. In November, he completed the event with a dramatic victory, earning €1,000,000.

In October, Sam final tabled the £20,000 NLHE High Roller Event at the EPT/UK & Ireland Poker Tour London, finishing 7th for £68,800. Less than a week later, he ended his year in Cannes at the 2011 WSOP Europe, where he finished 4th in the €5,000 PLO event to earn €77,642.

Sam has been a member of the Titan Poker Pro Team since 2010. Currently making his home in London, when Sam is away from the poker tables he spends time with girlfriend Tash and indulges in his second ion, association football.
