The new Jackpot from Newton is launched on the Romanian market. This entitled us to talk to Dragoș Buriu, general manager of the company, to find out more details about this important project. This material will provide you with a whole range of information about the characteristics of this jackpot and especially the novelties brought by this product, in comparison to other jackpots existent on the market.

Please tell us the latest news and projects developed by your company during the last period of time?

Lately we have focused in particular on the development of software for our Jackpot and proceeds monitoring system. Having to do with a market imbued of slots, we realized that our partners are seeking solutions to streamline their work. Both systems offer this possibility. While the jackpot system attracts more players to the same number of slots, the monitoring system helps them to analyze their cashing in real time on each game and to have the opportunity to streamline their fleet of devices as soon as possible.

You launched the new Jackpot from NEWTON. Please, describe it to us?

Although the new Jackpot uses the same basic principles as the first generation, its software started from scratch. From the experience gained in the last 8 years during which we have produced jackpots, we have reached to this final version, in which we have implemented everything that we considered necessary for the Romania market. The new version of the basic Jackpot has 4 levels of awarding, of which the first one is online. This means that if an organizer has several gaming rooms, then he may connect any number of games from any room to this ONLINE jackpot. When a player from a certain gaming room is winning, he will be announced on all screens in all units connected to the system. This jackpot can be extended with no additional cost with up to 6 levels, or it can be restricted to one level.

What are the characteristics and novelties that come with this product, comparing with those that already exist on the market?

Although the space does not allow me to do a technical description of this product, I can point out some essential elements. First, the acquisition of data is performed with the SAS communication protocol, where it is allowed. This means that the margin for error is reduced significantly, but also more importantly it means that any winning can be inserted directly into the credit of the device, giving the player the opportunity to keep on playing.

We have also integrated various other functions to streamline its use. For example one can set a minimum limit below which the jackpot is awarded, eliminating the situations where winners will be nominated from among those who play very low stakes. Also, you can set a minimum number of players present in the lobby, when a jackpot is awarded. I would like to add that we built the system to have large enough resources so that we can honor any request for amendment of the system where we receive new ideas from our partners.  

Why should operators acquire the new Jackpot from NEWTON?

As I pointed out earlier, a jackpot system contributes to an increase in revenues with the same fleet of devices. Therefore, it is a logical step in a market which is saturated with the same games. When competition has the same selection of games like you do, one must begin to look for solutions…

On the other hand, the jackpot system s an upgrade for the online monitoring of the receipts. Therefore, anyone who has a Newton jackpot system, with a single upgrade, can also use the monitoring system. Considering that ONJN aims to integrate all slots in one online monitoring system, the acquisition of a jackpot from our company may prove to be a smart step. If this normative framework will be approved, the limited time for implementing a number of 60,000 slots in Romania will make those who have begun preparations for such a system fortunate.

Over the years, players have been accustomed with different jackpot systems, but these have had an impact only when they were stable and when they offered the security of a fair winning. As I said, the acquisition of data is now very effective and we expect that the percentage of errors to be close to zero.

How was your business year of 2013?

2013 was a year full of changes and I’m sure they will not stop here. The establishment of ONJN was auspicious, we welcome it and we hope that things will become a lot clearer than they were until this year.  Instability is one of the damaging factors for the business environment, so we look forward to see what surprises will be brought to us by the new legislative framework, and to the tranquility times that we all await.

What are the biggest achievements of your company in 2013?

Obviously, our biggest achievement is the launch of this jackpot system, for which we have worked for over 1 year. On top of this, we were able to strengthen our relations with certain partners, which during these difficult times of the Romanian gaming market, were there for us.

What problems do you face in this moment on the Romanian gaming market?

As I noted earlier, the instability affects us the most. When the gambling organizers don’t know what will happen in the long run, their appetence for investment decreases considerably. Thus, with the advent of the new legislative framework, determining the amount of the taxes, we hope that the sector will enter into a trend, to which we will be able to adapt.

What solutions are available for a possible revival of the Romanian gaming industry?

I believe that lowering the taxes could revive the gambling field, but that is a hope that we cannot afford to have. Therefore, we expect the field to grow through the independent development of each organizer. If the serious  organizers will do their homework properly and they will survive at the expense of those who break the rules, then all of us will win. If only those who pay their taxes will be left and the black market will disappear, then the Government will not consider as necessary a new tax indexing. Obviously that is just fundamental in facts…

What are you’re expectations of the National Gambling Office?

We all hope that the new structure will be better adapted to the existing economic framework and that this new structure will better understand the issues we face. From the signals we got from the market, I concluded that things are a little different and that, in good direction. It seems that the governmental structures also begin to see this ides as one that contributes substantially to the state budget, and that can only be a positive thing.

In your opinion, what priorities and concrete actions should be taken in the close future in order to get our gaming market over the hill?

I think the emergence of the new regulatory framework in the shortest time will cause a subsequent smoothing of the market. Also, the implementation of a monitoring system is a positive thing. Over the past 20 years we have been accused that we have created a market of black money, but from my perspective, this area brings the black money to light. Most of those acting in this field desire total transparency so that any complaint with regard to our modus operandi becomes unsubstantiated.

What are your plans for the future?

In the future we want to maintain our seriousness and to bring added value to this field, either by the jackpot system, the revenue monitoring system, or through the sale of slots.

Vă  rog să ne spuneți care sunt ultimele noutăți și proiecte pe care compania dvs. le-a derulat în ultima perioadă?

În ultima perioadă ne-am concentrat în special pe dezvoltarea de software pentru sistemul nostru de Jackpot și de monitorizare a încasărilor. Având de-a face cu o piață suprasaturată de sloturi, am realizat că partenerii noștri caută soluții de eficientizare a activității lor. Ambele sisteme oferă această posibilitate. În timp ce sistemul jackpot atrage mai mulți jucători pe același număr de sloturi, sistemul de monitorizare îi ajută să își analizeze încasările în timp real pe fiecare joc în parte și să aibă în cel mai scurt timp posibilitatea de a își eficientiza flota de aparate de joc.

Ați lansat Noul Jackpot de la NEWTON. Vă rugăm să ni-l descrieți?

Deși Noul Jackpot folosește aceleași principii de bază ca și prima generație, softul pentru acesta este luat de la zero. Din experiența acumulată în ultimii 8 ani de când producem jackpoturi am ajuns la această variantă finală în care am implementat tot ce am considerat necesar pentru piața din România. Noul Jackpot în varianta de bază are 4 nivele de atribuire, din care primul este online. Asta înseamnă că dacă un organizator are mai multe săli în exploatare, el își poate conecta orice număr de jocuri din orice sală în acest jackpot ONLINE. În momentul în care un jucător dintr-o anumită sală va fi câștigător acesta va fi anunțat pe toate ecranele, în toate spațiile conectate la sistem. Acest jackpot poate fi extins fără costuri suplimentare până la 6 nivele, sau poate fi restrâns până la unul.

Care sunt caracteristicile și lucrurile noi cu care vine acest produs în comparație cu ceea ce există pe piață?

Deși spațiul nu îmi permite să fac o descriere tehnică a acestuia pot să punctez câteva elemente esențiale. În primul rând, achiziția de date se face prin protocolul de comunicare SAS, acolo unde acesta permite acest lucru. Asta înseamnă că marja de eroare se reduce semnificativ, dar și mai important, asta înseamnă că orice câștig poate fi introdus direct în creditul aparatului, dând posibilitatea jucătorului să îl joace în continuare.

Am integrat, de asemenea, diferite alte funcții de eficientizare a folosirii lui. Un exemplu ar fi faptul că se poate seta o miză minimă sub care jackpotul nu se atribuie, eliminând situațiile în care câștigătorii sunt desemnați dintre cei care joacă pe mize foarte mici. De asemenea, se poate seta un număr minim de jucători care să fie în sala de joc atunci când se atribuie un jackpot. Aș vrea să mai adaug că am construit sistemul să aibă resurse destul de mari astfel încât putem onora orice cerere de modificare a sistemului în cazul în care primim idei de la colaboratorii noștri.

Așa cum am arătat și mai devreme un sistem jackpot contribuie la o creștere a încasărilor având la dispoziție aceeași flotă de aparate de joc. Așadar, acesta este pasul logic pe o piață saturată de aceleași jocuri. Când concurența are aceeași ofertă de jocuri ca și tine, trebuie să începi să cauți soluții…

Pe de altă parte, sistemul de jackpot ă un upgrade pentru monitorizarea online a încasărilor. Cum a fost pentru afacerea dumneavoastră anul 2013?

Anul 2013 a fost unul plin de schimbări și sunt sigur că acestea nu se vor opri aici. Înființarea ONJN a fost de bun augur, ne bucurăm și avem speranța că lucrurile vor deveni mult mai clare decât au fost până anul acesta. Pentru mediul de afaceri, instabilitatea este unul dintre factorii dăunători, așa că așteptăm să vedem ce surprize va aduce noul cadru legislativ și apoi să avem perioada de liniște pe care cu toții o așteptăm.

Care sunt cele mai mari realizări ale firmei dvs. din acest an?

Evident, cea mai mare realizare este lansarea acestui sistem de jackpot la care lucrăm de peste 1 an de zile. Pe lângă asta, aș putea puncta întărirea relațiilor cu anumiți parteneri care ne-au fost alături în aceste vremuri dificile pentru piața jocurilor de noroc din România.

Care sunt problemele cu care vă confruntați în acest moment pe piața românească de gaming?

Așa cum am punctat și mai devreme, instabilitatea ne afectează cel mai mult. Apetența organizatorilor de jocuri pentru investiții scade considerabil când aceștia nu știu ce se va întâmpla pe termen lung. Așadar, odată cu apariția noului cadru legistativ, a determinării cuantumului taxei sperăm că sectorul va intra într-un trend în care să ne putem adapta.

Care ar fi soluțiile prin care s-ar putea revigora industria de gaming românească?

Scăderea taxelor cred că ar putea revigora domeniul gambling, dar asta este o speranță pe care nu ne putem permite să o avem. Așadar, ne așteptăm ca domeniul să crească prin dezvoltarea independentă a fiecărui organizator. Dacă organizatorii serioși își vor face temele corespunzător și aceștia vor supraviețui în detrimentul celor ce încalcă regulile atunci cu toții vom avea de câștigat. Dacă vor rămâne doar cei care își plătesc taxele și piața neagră va dispărea, atunci guvernul nu va mai considera necesară o nouă indexare a taxelor. Evident asta doar în principiu…

Care sunt așteptările pe care le aveți de la Oficiul Național pentru Jocuri de Noroc?

Cu toții avem speranța că noua structură va fi adaptată mai mult cadrului economic existent și că această nouă structură va înțelege mai bine problemele cu care ne confruntăm. Din semnalele pe care le am de pe piață am concluzionat că lucrurile sunt puțin diferite și asta în direcția bună. Se pare că acest domeniu începe să fie văzut și de structurile guvernamentale ca unul care contribuie substanțial la bugetul de stat și asta nu are cum să nu fie un lucru pozitiv.

Care ar fi, în opinia dvs., prioritățile și acțiunile concrete ce ar trebui întreprinse în perioada imediat următoare pentru a scoate piața noastră de gaming din starea de criză?

Cred că apariția noului cadru legislativ în cel mai scurt timp va determina o liniștire ulterioară a pieței. De asemenea, implementarea unui sistem de monitorizare este un lucru pozitiv. În ultimii 20 de ani am fost acuzați că am creat o piață a banilor negri, însă din perspectiva mea acest domeniu aduce banii negri la lumină. Majoritatea celor din acest sector își doresc transparență totală pentru că orice acuze în privința modului nostru de lucru să devină nefondate.

Care sunt planurile dumneavoastră de viitor?

Pentru viitor ne dorim să ne menținem seriozitatea și să aducem un plus de valoare acestui domeniu, fie prin sistemul de jackpot, fie prin sistemul de monitorizare a încasărilor, fie prin vânzarea de sloturi.
