Simona Halep has received excellent news from CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport): her suspension has been reduced from 4 years to 9 months! This decision is the biggest win of Simona Halep’s career! Basically, with this decision, the CAS gives her justice!

Here is the communication that the Court of Arbitration for Sport had today on this subject.

A short history of Simona’s ordeal over the past year and a half:

-on 7 October 2022 she learns that she is under investigation
-on 26 October 2022 the first hearing in the case takes place
-on 19 May 2023 the accusation of forgery of the Biometric port appears
-on 11 September 2023 she receives a 4-year suspension from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA)
-on 7-9 February 2024 hearings are held at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Laussane to shed light on the Simone Halep doping case. Our sportswoman, Patrick Mouratoglu and various experts were heard.
-on 5 March 2024 CAS reduces the suspension from 4 years to 9 months. Basically Simona can return to the tennis court at any time, having already ed more than 9 months of inactivity.

Here is a very important age from today’s CAS communication:

The CAS has unanimously determined that the four-year period of ineligibility imposed by the ITF Independent Tribunal is to be reduced to a period of ineligibility of nine (9) months starting on 7 October 2022, which period expired on 6 July 2023. As that period expired before the appeal procedures were even lodged with the CAS, the CAS has determined it appropriate to issue the operative part of the Arbitral Award as soon as practicable, together with a comprehensive media release.
