Bob Anderson, the music ambassador of Las Vegas 6y5x5f

It’s common knowledge that Vegas has it all, casinos, entertainment, good food, but it has always had top artists who have always thrilled the world with their talent. To imitate others may be considered a superficial matter that may not qualify you as an artist, but what Bob Anderson has managed to do in Las Vegas goes beyond any imagination and has brought musical imitation to the level of art through voice, attitude, gestures, impostation…everything magically transports you to the world of the golden years when Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett were delighting you on the casino show stages. 6a1756

How it all began 1w1ka

Anderson’s career has a strong connection to the Sinatra family. He began his career in 1973, when he was 23 and in Las Vegas at Sahara’s Congo Room, where he had the opportunity to attend a rehearsal with Nancy Sinatra. Nancy had a falling out with The Everly Brothers (some of the pioneers of country rock) and walked off stage. Anderson got the opportunity to sing with Nancy on stage and had a successful audition. That’s how it all began.

Then Anderson’s first appearance on national television was with Nancy Sinatra on The Merv Griffin Show and he received a standing ovation.

Merv Griffin was very impressed by Anderson, and a few months later, after seeing him sing at Ye Little Club in Beverly Hills, he invited Anderson to his 50th birthday celebration. At Merv Griffin’s party, which was attended by many of Hollywood’s elite, Anderson began to sing and imitate the voices of well-known singers. The crowd loved him! Cary Grant sat on the floor by the piano and said: “This is truly amazing, I’ve never seen anything like it!”

In one day Merv Griffin wrote a number for him and a week later introduced Anderson to the world at Caesars Palace. Shortly thereafter, young Anderson was booked to perform for two weeks at The Top of the Dunes, and the rest, as they say, is history. Those two weeks turned into 155 weeks of sold out shows.

Anderson quickly became a regular on every talk show and variety program, with more than 200 television appearances, including Showtime, HBO, Mike Douglas, The Merv Griffin Show, David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Anderson was the only guest in the history of The Tonight Show to guest twice in the same week.

Anderson has played more Las Vegas venues than almost anyone in Las Vegas entertainment history.

The performance of imitating an artist is a very risky one, especially when the artists you are imitating live and perform in the same city as you. You have to be in control of yourself and your skills because everyone will compare you to the original from the very first moments. It’s not easy work.

Throughout his career, Anderson has impersonated such famous artists as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Tony Bennett, Ray Charles and Bobby Darin.

Anderson not only has to sing like the artists he impersonates, he also has to look like them, and that’s why he turned to Hollywood make-up artist Kazuhiro Tsuji.

His show – Frank The Man The Music – taking place at The Palazzo Theater in Las Vegas featured a 32-piece orchestra of instrumentalists, in which he looked, sounded and moved like the late American star Frank Sinatra for 90 minutes. At the annual Las Vegas Best of the Best Entertainment Awards gala in 2015 his show was voted ‘Best Live Show’, ‘Best Headliner’ and ‘Best Live Performance’. Media from around the world called the production the most authentic recreation of a Frank Sinatra concert ever performed on a live stage.

When Las Vegas celebrated 50 years of entertainment, The Las Vegas Review Journal, Nevada’s largest daily newspaper, asked its readers to name their favorite shows of all time. Frank Sinatra was the clear winner in the readers’ poll. Bob Anderson was voted 12th between Barbra Streisand and Ray Charles.

Bob Anderson has been voted “Best Entertainer” in Las Vegas six times and has been inducted into the Casino Legends Hall of Fame and the Las Vegas Entertainment Hall of Fame.
