Bucharest was part of such great level poker tournament for the first time. Organized by EPT together with Pokerstars, the competition, which was held at the Intercontinental Hotel, offered generous prizes and a unique show for the gaming industry in Romania.
The main event attracted 579 entries and a prize pool of € 561,630, so the prize of the winner was fairly high for the level of the competitions in our country: € 107,350. The one who secured this award was Avishai Shitrit. He had managed to impose at a final table consisting of two Israelis, three Romanian and a Bulgarian.
Jozsef Liszkovics, Razvan Costinel Belea and Carmen Zainescu were the three Romanian players who qualified for the final table game, and a victory of a player from our country was seen as possible since the beginning of the tournament. However, it was not meant to be. Liszkovics from Odorheiu Secuiesc was the highest ranked in the event, finishing the third. The final hands were played between the two players from Israel, who are also friends, Avishai and Moshe.
Final Table
Six players qualified for the final table, the chip leader was the Bulgarian Yasen Dichev, followed by Liszkovics. Avishai, the future champion ranked only fifth in number of chips. In last place was Carmen Zăinescu, the only woman qualified to the final table. Notable is that only four women entered the event, one of which was Carmen

Eliminations
Unfortunately, the small number of chips owned by Carmen did not help her to stay at the final table too long. She was quickly removed by Liszkovics, player who took over most of her chips.
Shitrit was a bit luckier and began to increase his stack, especially after some hands with the same Liszkovics. But the second player to leave the final table was another Romanian, Razvan Belea, who was removed also by the 28 years old player from Odorheiu Secuiesc. Thus, Jozsef ensured his presence at the final table for a little longer, despite the hand lost to Shitrit.
Surprisingly, though starting as chip leader, Yasen Dichev was the next player to be eliminated. The Bulgarian was unlucky throughout the hands played with Liszkovics and Eliyahu and he was eventually forced to surrender after he risked a great deal on a pair of nines, which were defeated, however, by a pair of queens held by the Romanian.
With only three players left at the final table, the situation was the following:

Jozsef Liszkovics – 4,5 million chips
Moshe Eliyahu – 1,8 million chips
Although he was the second favorite, Liszkovics was eliminated in the third place after a spectacular hand where most chips of the event were staked.
The hand began with a bet of 200,000, and Avishai remained in the game. On the table came the flop with J ♠ 4 ♠, A♥. Shitrit raised the pot to 150,000, but Jozsef made the call and raised the pot to 500,000. The turn came with 3 ♠, the players placed no bets, so the river came with 2 ♠. With four cards of spades on the table, so the imminent possibility for one of the players of achieving color, the Israeli raised with 2 million chips, and the Romanians did not give up, but went all in. Shitrit showed A ♠ 6♦, which was a catastrophe for Liszkovics, who had K ♠ 7♦.
Final Hand
This result meant that Avishai was clearly favorite to win. He had 12,56 million chips, 10 times more than the last opponent left in the game: Eliyahu competed only with 1,765 million chips. A totally unbalanced situation.
The last hand developed as follows: Shitrit played with 4♣ and 7♥, and Eliyahu with 2♦ și 4♦. On the table came 5 ♣, 3 ♣, 6♦. The K♦ tower followed, and the river did not matter because both players had achieved straights with the first three cards. Avishai’s one was, however, a little higher, and this ensured him the victory in Bucharest.
Who is Avishai Shitrit?
The Bucharest Champion is 30 years old and is from Beersheva, Israel. He is good friends with Moshe Eliyahu, his last opponent at the final table. He began his career as a poker player six years ago and turned pro. He practices any kind of poker, playing both cash games and live events or online ones, in front of the computer. The Bucharest victory is he’s first of this level, but his biggest win up to now, as well.

Pentru prima oară Bucureștiul a avut parte de un turneu de poker de calibru. Organizat de EPT alături de Pokerstars competiția, care a avut loc în Hotelul Intercontinental, a oferit premii generoase și un spectacol nemaivăzut în industria de gaming din România.
Evenimentul principal a atras 579 de intrări și un fond de premiere de 561.630€, astfel că premiul pentru câștigător a fost destul de ridicat pentru nivelul competițiilor din țara noastră: 107,350€. Cel care și-a asigurat acest premiu a fost Avishai Shitrit. El s-a impus la o masă finală formată din doi israelieni, trei români și un bulgar.
Jozsef Liszkovics, Răzvan Costinel Belea și Carmen Zainescu au fost cei trei români rămași în joc la masa finală, iar o victorie a unui jucător din țara noastră a fost văzută posibilă încă de la începutul turneului. Cu toate acestea, nu a fost să fie. Liszkovics, din Odorheiu Secuiesc, a rămas cel mai bine clasat în eveniment, terminând pe locul trei. Mâinile finale s-au jucat între cei doi jucători prieteni din Israel, Avishai și Moshe.
Masa finală
La masa finală s-au calificat șase jucători, lider la jetoane fiind bulgarul Yasen Dichev, urmat de Liszkovics. Viitorul campion Avishai a fost doar al cincilea clasat ca număr de fise. Pe ultimul loc era Carmen Zăinescu, singura femeie calificată la masa finală. Notabil e faptul că în eveniment s-au înscris doar patru femei, dintre care una a fost Carmen.

Eliminările
Din păcate, numărul mic de jetoane pe care le avea Carmen nu a ajutat-o să rămână prea mult timp la masa finală. A fost eliminată rapid de Liszkovics, jucător care i-a preluat majoritatea chipsurilor.
Shitrit a fost ceva mai norocos și a început să își mărească stiva, în special în urma unor mâini jucate cu același Liszkovics. Însă al doilea jucător care a părăsit masa finală a fost un alt român, Răzvan Belea, care a fost eliminat tot de jucătorul de 28 de ani din Odorheiu Secuiesc. Astfel, Jozsef și-a mai asigurat pentru o perioadă prezența la masa finală, în ciuda mâinilor pierdute cu Shitrit.
Surprinzător, deși a pornit ca lider la jetoane, Yasen Dichev a ajuns să fie următorul eliminat. Bulgarul a fost lipsit de noroc în mâinile jucate cu Liszkovics și Eliyahu, iar în cele din urmă a fost nevoit să se predea după ce a riscat mult pe o pereche de nouari care au fost învinși, însă, de o pereche de dame avute de român.
Cu doar trei jucători rămași la masă, situația era astfel:

Moshe Eliyahu – 1.8 millioane jetoane
Deși a fost al doilea favorit, Liszkovics a fost eliminat pe locul trei în urma unei mâini spectaculoase în care s-au mizat cele mai multe jetoane din eveniment.
Mâna a început cu o miză de 200.000, iar Avishai a rămas în joc. Pe masă s-a întors flopul: J♠, 4♠, A♥. Shitrit a ridicat potul cu 150.000, însă Jozsef a dat call și a mărit potul la 500.000. Pe turn a venit 3♠, jucătorii nu au mai mizat, așa că a venit și riverul 2♠. Cu patru cărți de inimă neagră aflate pe masă, deci cu posibilitatea iminentă de realizare a culorii pentru unul din jucători, israelianul a dat raise cu 2 milioane de jetoane, iar românul nu a renunțat, ci a dat all in. Shitrit și-a arătat cărțile A♠ 6♦, ceea ce a fost catastrofal pentru Liszkovics, care avea K♠ 7♦.
Mâna finală
Pentru Avishai acest rezultat îl transforma clar în favoritul la victorie. Avea 12,560,000 jetoane, de peste 10 ori mai mult față de ultimul adversar rămas în joc: Eliyahu concura doar cu 1,765,000 jetoane. O situație total dezechilibrată.
Ultima mână s-a desfășurat astfel: Shitrit a jucat cu 4♣ și 7♥, iar Eliyahu cu 2♦ și 4♦. Pe masă s-u întors 5♣, 3♣, 6♦. A urmat turnul K♦, iar riverul nu a mai contat deoarece ambii jucători aveau chinte formate cu primele trei cărți. A lui Avishai a fost, însă, un pic mai mare, iar asta i-a asigurat victoria la București.
Cine e Avishai Shitrit
Campionul de la București are 30 de ani și e din Beersheva, Israel. E bun prieten cu Moshe Eliyahu, ultimul său adversar de la masa finală. Și-a început cariera de pokerist în urmă cu șase ani și a devenit profesionist. Practică orice fel de poker, jucând atât cash-gameuri, cât și prin turnee live sau online în fața calculatorului. Victoria de la București e prima la un astfel de nivel, dar și cel mai mare câștig de până acum.
